Truman L. Read

Bridgeport ~ Truman L. Read, 78, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 in Dallas.

Funeral Service is 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Paradise Methodist Church with burial at Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2024 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Pallbearers are Randy Boone, Terry Barnes, Derek Read, Joe Tucker, Greg Lowery, and Chris Lowery.

Truman was born on August 27, 1945 to Harold and Ila Marie (Moody) Read in Bridgeport. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sharon Denton on August 28, 1965 in Bridgeport. Truman owned and operated his own construction company for many years. He served as the Paradise Methodist Song leader since the late 80’s and oversaw the construction of the new sanctuary built in 2015. Truman was also an avid outdoorsman. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and a friend to many that will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ila Read.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Sharon Read of Bridgeport; his sons, Reggie Read and wife Shellie of Paradise and Randy Read and wife Christi of Burkeville; his grandchildren, Reese Read and fiancé Blake Bennett, Ryhan Read Scogins and husband Chad, and Daxen Read; his great-grandchild, Asher Scogins; his brother, Harold D. Read; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
