Veda Marie Grimes

Chico ~ Veda Grimes, 84, a retired cafeteria supervisor, went to be with our Lord Sunday, June 24, 2018 in Bridgeport.

Graveside is 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the Chico Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Rev. Tom Merritt will officiate.

Veda was born on February 5, 1934 to Chester and Edna (McCracken) Johnson in Hopedale, Ohio. She was united in marriage to Paul Grimes on June 28, 1953 in Cadiz, Ohio. Veda worked for both Bridgeport ISD and Chico ISD. She retired from Chico after 22 years where she was the supervisor over the cafeteria. She loved to cook for her family and was famous for her huge cinnamon rolls. Veda also worked at the Soda Fountain in Chico after retiring where she always had a smile on her face and treated everyone like family. Her family meant the world to her and she adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Grimes; her son, Dale Grimes; her grandson, Brent Lemond; her sister, Laura Fleming and her brothers, Harold Johnson and Carl Johnson.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Ronald Grimes and wife Cathy of Alvord; her daughter, Sheila Lemond and husband Kevin of Alvord; her son Gary Grimes of Chico, her grandchildren, Greg and wife Renee, Kyle and wife Becky, Colt and wife Cassii, Jessica, Kyle and husband Chris and Lyle and fiance Patricia; 9 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
