Veda Mae (Cooper) Sherman

Decatur ~ Veda Mae Sherman went to be with our Lord Sunday, July 23rd, 2023

Graveside Service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 27th, 2023 at Sweetwater Cemetery. Family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the cemetery.

Veda was born January 17th, 1928 to Cecil Clyde and Alba Elnora (Loter) Cooper in Slidell, Texas. She was united in marriage October 5, 1946 to Jeff Lee “Smokey” Sherman in Decatur, Texas. Veda was retired from the University of North Texas after many years as an Administrative Secretary/Advisor for the Institute of Criminal Justice Dept. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many who will dearly miss her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Lee “Smokey” Sherman, and numerous brothers and sisters.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Randy Sherman and wife Jayne of Decatur, and Scott Sherman and wife Carla of Sunset; her daughter, Sandra French and husband Robert of Keller, her sister, Bobbie Rhine of Decatur and a host of friends; her grandchildren, Stephen French and wife Tricia of Allen, Stefanie French Peterson and husband John of Keller,  Chelsea Sherman, Cody Sherman, McKynzee Sherman, Jacob Trotter and wife Tanya, Allyson Allen and husband Kyle; great-grandchildren, Michael Peterson, Audrey French, Zoey French, Graham Sherman, Tatum Allen, Kambry Allen, Layne Allen, Lorelai and Laramie Trotter.
