Chico: Velma L. O'Kelley, 79, a retired clerk, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in Bridgeport.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Chapel with burial in Pleasant Grove #3 Cemetery. Family will receive friends 10 a.m. before the service at the funeral home.
The Rev. Fred Ferren and Rev. Dale Webster to officiate. Pallbearers: Allen Morgan, Michael Morgan, David O'Kelley, Jim O'Kelley, Jimmy Freeman, Gerald Freeman, Robert O'dell, Paul Witt and Mark Witt.
Velma was born April 18, 1931 to James and Florilla (Brooks) in Chico. She was a retired clerk in the business office at TCU. She was a Baptist and attended the Central Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James W. O'Kelley; and her sister Flora B. Morgan.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sisters, Lois Freeman and husband Ray from Pittsburg, Oklahoma, Geneva Anderson from Chico, Linda O'dell and husband Bobby from Bridgeport, Elizabeth O'Kelley from Chico; her brother, James Leroy O'Kelley and wife Mary from McKinney; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and a host of friends.
