Velma was born on February 4, 1930 to Jessie and Bessie (Todd) Kelsey in Elm Mott, Texas. She was united in marriage to Donald Turrell in Yuma, Arizona. Velma worked as a store clerk.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald; and her sister, Ivy White Robinson.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Charles Turrell of Newark, Jess Turrell and wife Dovie of Yuma, Arizona; and Vern Turrell of Newark; her granddaughter, Christy Dawn Turrell of Phoenix, Arizona; her great grandchildren, Jessica, Jeremy, Marcella and Janieca; her nieces, Dolores Ranta of Haslet, and Della Godfrey, of Haslet; and her nephew, Joe Robinson of Houston; other family members and a host of friends.
