Verda Mae (Kelley) Montford

Bridgeport~ Verda Mae Montford, 88, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in Bridgeport.

Graveside Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Verda was born on April 14, 1933 to Milton Alonzo “Lon” and Ethel Corene (Butler) Kelley in Paradise, Texas. She was a homemaker. Verda was united in marriage to Donald Hugh Montford on March 17, 1951 in Bridgeport. They were married 63 years until his passing on April 1, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Hugh Montford; her daughter, Donna Sue Montford Byrd; her grandson, Donald Lee “Chief” Money, and her son-in-law, James Money.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, David Montford and wife Beth of Bridgeport; her daughter, Judy Montford Money of Bridgeport; her grandchildren, Katie Whaley and husband Brian, Samantha Minor, Jarrod Montford and wife Kassie, Jodi Money, and Clayton Byrd and wife Mary Beth; her great-grandchildren, J.J., Nikki, and Brennen; her sister, Eula Fay Rowe of Paradise; numerous extended family members and a host of good friends and neighbors.
