Vernon Wayne Hunt

Decatur ~ Vernon Wayne Hunt, 83, went to be with our Lord Thursday, December 15, 2022 in Decatur.

Funeral will be 10 AM Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with burial at Geron Family Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Edward Geron will officiate.

Vernon was born on March 23, 1939 to Edward and Lorene (Conklin) Hunt in Bray, Oklahoma. He was united in marriage to Betty Geron on May 12, 2004 in Decatur. Vernon was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Syble Woodring.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty Hunt of Decatur; 2 sons, Corey Hunt and wife Kathy of Decatur and Joe Bee Hunt of Decatur; his daughter, Carrie Hunt of Decatur; 2 step daughters, Cheryl Ann Greiner and husband Lou of Decatur and Becky Rios and husband Tom of Farmersville; 2 step sons, Travis Todd Weger of Breckenridge and Trevor Greer of Bowie; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his sister, Phillis Rowsey; his niece, Leslie Burch; and his nephew, Tommy Williams; other relatives and a host of friends.
