Veta Kiser, 75, passed away peacefully at home in Aurora, Texas surrounded by her children and family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Veta was born on November 20, 1947 to Gene and Earline Moore from Saginaw, Texas as the youngest of the six sisters. She grew up in Saginaw and attended Saginaw schools in the 50’s and 60’s.
She married J.R. Kiser on September 28, 1963 and had four children: Jerry, Cecil, Jon and Annette. They lived primarily in the Saginaw area until moving to Waskom, Texas in the 80’s and back to the North Texas area in the 90’s. Veta was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, J.R. Kiser and her parents, Gene and Earline Moore.
Veta was an active member of First Baptist Bridgeport for many years and was a generous supporter of the Wise Hope Shelter. She was a loving family person and dedicated to a life of service and family. Her heart overflowed with love for each of her four children, nine grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren. They meant the world to her and nothing in life brought her more joy then sharing her love with each of them. She especially loved being able to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spoiled them as often as possible.
Veta adored and loved each of her sisters and they adored and loved her. The “Moore Sisters” were a prominent force in the lives of our family and the best example of pure love ever seen. These sisters communicated daily with each other, devised a weekly Game Day tradition and vacationed together (only the sisters) for the last 25 years.
Veta was an active member of the Knights of Pythian Sisters in Fort Worth, Texas. She has remained active in her Fort Worth Lodge and has attended the Grand Lodge many times over the last 30 years. She cherished her close relationships with many friends from chapters across the country.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Jerry and Lynn Kiser of Forestburg, Texas, Cecil and Jo Kiser of Cottondale, Texas, Jon and Vanessa Kiser of Aurora, Texas and Teresa (Annette) and Chad Loyd of Waskom, Texas as well as her nine grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.
She is also survived by all five of her older sisters: Winnie Dulin and spouse Cecil Dulin, Peggy Highfill, Margie Summers, Betty Loftus and spouse Larry Loftus and Melva Oshier.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Texas on Saturday, September 30th at 2:00. Visitation will be at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport, Texas on Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. All friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate her life with her family. In lieu of flowers, the family would request a donation to the Wise Hope Shelter through First Baptist Bridgeport: mark donation as “in memoriam for Veta Kiser” https://onrealm.org/FBCBridgeport/-/form/give/FMLWUHDOWB
