Virgie Larue (Cox) Counts

Runaway Bay ~ Virgie LaRue Counts, 84, went to be with our Lord Saturday, December 21, 2019 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2019 at The First Baptist Church in Bridgeport, Texas with burial in Gibtown Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Dr. Craig Erb and Rev. Jon Bawden will officiate. Pallbearers will be Brent Gillum, Michael Thompson, J Thompson, and Justin Maxwell. Honorary pallbearers are her First Baptist Sunday School Class.

LaRue was born June 8, 1935 to Virgil and Florene (Thompson) Cox in Gibtown, Texas. She was united in marriage July 16, 1955 to Jimmy “Pat” Counts in Gibtown, Texas. LaRue was a member of First Baptist in Bridgeport and Gibtown, Texas. She was in the Eastern Star, often she substitute taught and volunteered her time at the Decatur Hospital as well as helping with the food pantry at First Baptist Bridgeport.

She was preceded in death by, her parents; and her husband of 61 years, Jimmy “Pat” Counts;

Those left behind to cherish her memories are; her daughter, Cindy Schmidt and husband Steve of Chickasha, Oklahoma; her granddaughter, Kali Mogg and husband Kennan of Yukon, Oklahoma; her sister, Margaret Holloway of Springtown;and her like a brother, Johnny Thompson and wife Bobbie of Gibtown; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends; her caregivers, Marilyn Schmidt, Brook Dale, and Lifeline Home Health and Hospice.
