Virginia Lee (Buck) Ray

June 30, 1922 — September 30, 2016

Shady Shores- Virginia Lee Ray, 94, formerly of Bridgeport went to be with the Lord on Friday September 30, 2016 in Hickory Creek, Texas.  Funeral was held 11:00 a.m. Monday October 3, 2016 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial in East Bridgeport Cemetery.

Brandon Knight, Minister and Owner of Knights Assisting Life Home in Lake Dallas will be officiating, and Pastor Ollin Collins of RAB Church will be assisting. Pallbearers include Major Darryl Ray, Donovan Ray Bradley, Todd Buckner, Mike Howard, Bob Ishmael and Jessie Lockhart.

Virginia was born on June 30, 1922 to Harry John and Lillian (Pedigo) Buck in Dalhart, Texas. She was united in marriage to Roger Tran Ray on April 13, 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas. Virginia began working for 10 cents an hour at Montgomery Ward right out of high school, then was employed as a teller at Continental State Bank in Forth Worth, where she and Roger met.

After moving with him to Bridgeport, she worked at First National Bank and the Fred Green Insurance Agency before starting her career at the Bridgeport Hospital. Like always,Virginia proudly recalled her work ethic throughout life allowed her to advance to the top position that was available to her. It was then that most people in Wise County best knew Virginia Ray as the Administrator of the Bridgeport Hospital and Clinic for over 25 years. She was very passionate and caring about her work, and she was a person who loved her family dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers: Wilson Buck, Robert H. Buck and infant Gene Buck; and Sister Dorothy Buck Gauntt.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son Roland R. Ray and wife Susan of Runaway Bay, Texas; her daughter Myra Bradley and Husband Doyle of Shady Shores, Texas; her Grandkids: Holly Buckner and husband Todd of Chico, Texas, Major Darryl Ray and wife Anndrea of Edmond, Oklahoma, Bridget Bryanna of Fort Worth, Donovan and wife Rahel of Lavon,Texas, Michelle Earwood and husband Shane of Temple, Georgia, and James Bass and wife Brittney of Kennesaw, Georgia; her 11 great-grandkids and numerous nieces nephews, and a host of friends.
