Decatur: V. M. Claborn, Jr., 87, a retired dairyman, went to be with our Lord, Thursday, October 28, 2010 in Decatur.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Monday, November 1st at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Ray Cobb and Kevin Moore officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Billy Claborn, Michael Claborn, Tyler Humphrey, Chris Morgan, Sherman Hammons, Kyle Kemp, Jonathan Fennell, and Carl Fennell.
Honorary pallbearers include Mt. Zion Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class, Herbert White, and Curly Young.
V.M. was born July 1, 1923 in Alvord, Texas, to Virgil Mac and Lillian Hoffman Claborn. He married Doris Mae Williams on July 23, 1947 and was married 45 years at her death on July 2, 1993. V.M. was also preceded in death by granddaughter, Ginger Morgan, sisters, Alta Nikirk and Wanda McDonald; and brother, Victor R. Claborn.
Left behind to cherish his memory are sons, Tommy Claborn and wife, Kelly of Ocalo, Florida, Frankie Claborn and wife, Sheri of Decatur; daughters, Becky Morgan of Italy, Texas, Nancy Humphrey, Brenda Fennell and husband, Carl, both of Decatur, Judy DeLay of Denton and Trudy Claborn of Arlington; grandchildren, Billy Claborn, Lindsay DeLay, Christopher Morgan, Megan Claborn Hammons, Michael Claborn, Tyler Humphrey, Lilly and Katie Claborn, Jonathan Fennell; and sister, Irene Watts of Alvord.
Family requests memorials be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 287, Alvord, Texas 76225.
