Paradise: W.A. "Ashley" Clifton, 91, a carpenter, went to be with our Lord Thursday, January 6, 2011 in Decatur.
Funeral: 3 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Chapel in Bridgeport with private burial. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The speaker will be John Chunn. Songs will be led by Andy Stevenson. Honorary Pallbearers: Randall Clark, John Ashley Chunn, Larry Pippin, Nate Pearson, Walter Clifton, Jim Clark, Vincent Shilling, and John Cox.
Ashley was born October 8, 1919 to Frank and Geona (Pippin) Clifton in Quanah, Texas. He married Frances Wynelle Bridges on October 28, 1946 in Irving, Texas. Ashley served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Highland Oaks Church of Christ.
Ashley was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wynelle; his son, Gordon Ashley Clifton; his brothers, Walter Clifton and Billy Gordon Clifton.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters, Charlotte W. Chunn and husband John of Tarpley, Adrienne Faulhaber and husband Dewey of Paradise; his grandchildren, Amy, Alyssa, John Ashley, and Emily; his great grandchildren, Grayson, Jack, Madlyn, Chandler and Evelayne; his brothers, Art Clifton of Dallas and Davis Clifton of Gun Barrel City; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
