Bridgeport ~ Wade E. Armstrong, 88, a retired master electrician and woodworker, went to be with our Lord Sunday, November 29, 2015 in Decatur.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Cottondale Baptist Church in Cottondale with burial in Cottondale Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Bro. Charles Pugh will officiate. Pallbearers include Scott Carpenter, Brent Carpenter, Blake Carman, Daniel Adams, Blake Hensley, and Noah Layne.
Wade was born on November 22, 1927 to Paul and Hazel (Wade) Armstrong in Chanute, Kansas. He was united in marriage to Mary Nell Stanley on March 3, 1951 in Lovington, New Mexico. Wade worked for Mitchell Energy and SIE until his retirement then crafted his hobby of woodworking at the lumber yard for 20 years. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Boyd. Wade proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 49 years, Mary Nell Armstrong; and his sisters, Barbara Webb and Janet Knapp.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Neil Armstrong and wife Janet of Bridgeport; his daughter, Marsha Carpenter and husband Deaun of Bridgeport; his grandchildren, Scott Carpenter and wife Pauline of Saginaw, Brent Carpenter and wife Misty of Saginaw, Alyssa Carman and husband Blake of Allen; his great grandchildren, Victoria Lopez, Ryan Carpenter, Dawson Carpenter, Summer Guerin, Sydney Carpenter, Owen Carpenter, Pierce Carman, and Brooks Carman; other family members, and a host of friends.
