Wanda Lee (Summers) Wheelis

Alvord ~ Wanda Lee Wheelis, 88, of Alvord went to be with her Lord Saturday, January 9, 2021 in Decatur, Texas.

Graveside service is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Alvord Cemetery with Bill Cleveland and Steve Summers officiating. Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Alvord.

Pallbearers include David Summers, David Greenwood, Jason Baird, Paul Ray Baird, Henry Neth, and Wendell Johnson. Honorary pallbearers include Neal Hachtel, Jim Ray Baird, Mack Thweatt, Larry Talley, Marshall Endres, Larry Foreman, Chad Langham, and Cary Simmons.

Wanda was born November 15, 1932 to Ernest Lane and Nellie (Church) Summers in Los Almos County, New Mexico. She was united in marriage July 3, 1952 to James Wheelis in Bowie, Texas.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Gaylynn Wheelis and wife Penny of Alvord; granddaughters, Megan Nichols and Angela Nichols; 4 great- grandchildren, Devon, Lennon, Radly, and Maya; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, James Lewis Wheelis; daughter, Janet Wheelis Freeman; grandson, Christopher Wheelis; brothers, Wayne and Glenn Summers; and a sister, Shirley Neth.
