Warren Robert Stallard went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 3, 2023. He was born on April 22, 1933, to Karl and Beulah Stallard in Riverside, Calif. During his childhood, his family moved to Thermal, Calif., where he graduated from Coachella Valley High School in 1951. Warren joined the United States Air Force in 1951 and served as a Flight Mechanic on a C-47. Warren flew with the C-47 flight team to many locations worldwide, including air missions during the Korean War. Upon leaving the Air Force, he met the love of his life, Esther Holloway, at the post office in Thermal, Calif. They were married six months later on August 2, 1957. They were married for 64 years and have three children, Anita Bower (Bruce), Robert Stallard (Della), and Paul Stallard (Naomi).
Warren is survived by his children; his 10 grandchildren; and his 21 great-grandchildren. Warren was preceded in death by his infant son, Frank Lindsey; his wife, Esther; and his great-granddaughter, Amelia Marie Stallard. Warren retired from the Riverside County Road Department in California in 1993 after 43 years of service. He started as part of the road maintenance crew, working his way up through roles as a mechanic, foreman, lead foreman, superintendent, and finally, district manager of County Engineering. He retired a second time after serving 10 years as manager for the Myoma Dunes Water Company in Bermuda Dunes, Calif. Warren and Esther moved from La Quinta, Calif in 2004, to Decatur where they lived for 19 years.
What defines Warren was his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and his love for the Word of God. He spent many, many hours studying in his den, where the door was always open to his family and others. He was always willing to share the love of Christ with his family, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, coworkers, acquaintances and anyone who would give him a moment. In Decatur, Warren was known as the gentleman who frequented Taco Bell, Wendy’s and Braum’s on a daily basis, sitting in the restaurants for hours while reading his Bible and fostering relationships with employees and others. He was loved by all, always putting a smile on the faces of those he talked to, and will be greatly missed by all.
