Runaway Bay---W.E. "Cotton" Gilbert, 84, a retired landman for Mitchell Energy passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 in Runaway Bay.
A private graveside service was held Monday, Feb. 18, 2008 at Eternal Oaks Cemetery, Runaway Bay. Officiating was the Rev. Gary Sessions.

Mr. Gilbert was born Feb. 3, 1924 in Hodge, Louisiana to William E. Sr. and Mattye Seals Gilbert. He married Audrey Lewis Feb. 2, 1946 in Bossier City, LA. They had lived in the Runaway Bay community since 1982. Cotton was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WWII, a 32nd Degree Mason with the Queensboro Lodge in Shreveport, LA and a Presbyterian. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Douglas H. Gilbert.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Audrey Lewis Gilbert of Runaway Bay; son, Michael Gilbert and wife Carolyn Sue of Houston; 3 daughters, Jeannene O'Quinn and husband Gary of Cypress, Cindy Bullion and husband Jack of Decatur and Liz Dale and husband Gene of McKinney; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Deborah, Kathryn, Colette, Anthony, Keegan, Lewis and Nick; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Luke, Elizabeth, Liam, Brooklyn and Jordan Hawkins Funeral Home Bridgeport, 940-683-2211
