Funeral service is 2 p.m. Sunday, February 14th at the First Baptist Church of Greenwood with Reverends Tracy Epting and Ken May officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include Butch Calhoun, Donald Bryant, Larry Bryant, Jim Bryant, Danny Pruett, Tim Fletcher and Roger Weber. Honorary pallbearers include Tom Miller, A.C. Griffin, Roland Carter, Rodney Mote and Bill Lester.
Ben was born November 22, 1923 in Valley View, Texas to Quentin Green and Gertie Lee Calhoun. He attended Texas A & M University and was a WWII Army veteran. Ben married Betty Bryant on November 22, 1950 in Valley View, Texas. He was a retired farmer and rancher, and served as a deacon for over 50 years at the First Baptist Church of Greenwood.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Betty Calhoun of Greenwood; daughter, Katie Stevens and husband, Charles of Decatur; son, James Calhoun of Krum, two granddaughters, Kristi Stevens of Frisco, Courtney Stevens of Decatur; sister, Glendean Miller of Valley View; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Ben is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Leon, Chester, and Billy Calhoun and sister, Joann Bennett.
