To the family of Roland Carter, When I sat down to type this, it hit me that I never met Roland Carter. I've known his son, Casey for 14 years and I've met Linda and the rest of the brood. I also know Roland's brother, Mark and his family, but Roland and I never physically crossed paths. Strangely though, I feel like I know more about him than I know about members of my own family because of all of the interesting stories I've heard.
When Casey tells one of the many stories about his dad, he does it with such respect and reverence that it's easy to see how much he's loved and admired. I feel like a know Roland Carter by knowing the fine people his children have turned out to be (although I'm sure Linda played a big part there too). The legacy of Roland Carter is revealed in the lives of his wonderful children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many, many friendships he fostered throughout his life.
Our hearts go out to you and we'll keep you in our prayers. May God bless and comfort you in this time. Please know that we are there for you, just as we know you'd be for us.
Finally, our daughter, Jordan asked me to tell her friends, Creed Grant and Will that she's so sorry that they lost their grandpa. She said that it would be hard for her to lose her grandpa and she wants you guys to know that she's thinking about you.
With our deepest sympathies,
Steve, Janie and Jordan Dickens
