William Ernest Harris
January 12, 1947 — April 6, 2016
Bridgeport ~ William "Willie" Ernest Harris, 69, a retired carpenter, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in Decatur.
Family will receive friends and family 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Willie was born on January 12, 1947 to Ernest and Dorothy (Godsey) Harris in Peaster, Texas. He was united in marriage to Diane (Saunders) Harris on January 22, 1982 in Fort Worth. Willie worked many years as a carpenter, even re-building their home after a fire completely destroyed it. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying golf, fishing, hunting, and was a NASCAR and Texas Rangers fan. His favorite pastime was spending time with family, especially his children and grandchildren. Willie was a member of the Baptist church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers-in-law, Eddie Throckmorton, Mer Ido, and Leonard Garfield.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years, Diane Harris of Bridgeport; his daughters, Stefanie Gann and husband, Brandon of Springtown, Karen Woodworth of Bridgeport, and Angela Harris of Briar; his son, Jason Hooker and wife Lacye of Arlington; nine grandchildren; his brothers, Bobby Harris and wife Patsy of Boyd, and Jerry Harris of Cottondale; his sisters, Norma Ido Throckmorton, Millie Walker, and Linda Harris, all of Boyd; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
