He was preceded in death by his parents, James M. Murphy and Anita L. Murphy.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kelly Rhoades and husband Bubba of Scurry, Texas; his son, Michael Murphy and wife Courtney of Crandall, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Chase, Kenneth, Brittany, and Brookland; his brother, Gary Murphy of Garland; his sister, Kathleen Gilliland and husband Robert of Alba, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
