Rhome ~ CSM William Scott "Bill" Parker, USA-Retired, 81, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in Fort Worth.
Graveside service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Family will receive friends 4-5 p.m. Sunday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel.
Bill was born December 31, 1934 to Thomas and Elizabeth (Hinds) Parker in Memphis, Tennessee. He was united in marriage to Walburga M. Zimmer on May 6, 1961 in Kirchgoens, Germany.
Bill proudly served his country for 30 years in the U. S. Army. He was a Vietnam veteran, and was stationed at many locations during his career including Germany and Korea. Bill met his wife in Germany in 1960, and they subsequently married in 1961. He was a member of numerous military organizations and received numerous military honors. The governor of Kentucky awarded him the Honorary Kentucky Colonel in 1981. Bill attended Western Kentucky University, and received his Masters Degree in Education in 1984.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his four sisters; and his two brothers.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Walburga Parker of Rhome; his sons, Ernest Parker and wife Kristina of Rhome, and Kenneth Parker of Haltom City; his grandchildren, Jacob Parker and Renee Parker; his sister, Dorothy Carlew and husband, Ralph of Drummonds, Tennessee; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
