Gathering of family and friends for William Elton "Sonny" Tackel, 71, of Bridgeport is 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home is Bridgeport.

William Elton 'Sonny' Tackel 71 of Bridgeport died March 25th after a battle with kidney cancer. There will be a family visitation at Hawkins Funeral Home, Monday evening 6-8 PM . Sonny requested no funeral or memorial service.
Sonny was born June 25, 1944, to Glen Albert and Lena Mae (McEntire) Tackel. He lost both parents to cancer. Glen died in 1981, and Lena in 1991.
In his youth Sonny did custom farming, broke horses, worked in the oil field, at the rock crusher, and at General Dynamics. While serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, he married local girl, Suzanne 'Sue' Daugherty. Together they started a dairy east of Bridgeport and milked cows for over 25 years. Later they changed over to a stocker cow/calf operation.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sue, his daughter, Diane, her husband, Carl Russell, and a 14 year old grandson, Kirby.
Sonny always tried to deal fairly with people. He cherished his family, friends, animals and farm. He will be missed by all.
