Rhome: William Henry "Billy" Troxell, 77, former mayor of Rhome, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, September 26, 2009 in Rhome.
Funeral service is 10 a.m Tuesday, September 29th at the Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd, Texas with Reverend Jimmy Withers officiating. Interment will follow service at Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Shannon Jones, Ronnie Harvey, Tony Dickey, Ned Adcock, Raymond Dickey, Don Troxell, and Randy Troxell. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Childress and Kenneth Brammer.
Billy was born on March 13, 1932 in Rhome, Texas to Ellis Clyde and Katherine (Taylor) Troxell. He retired from teaching radio/TV at Northwest ISD. Billy began his career with the City of Rhome beginning in the early 1950's as City Councilman, in the 60's as City Secretary and Mayor in 1992-1993 and 1997-1998.
Billy served in the United States Army, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rhome.
Billy is preceded in death by his brother, Ellis Clyde Troxell, Jr.; two sisters, Vivian Middleton and Nelma Wylie.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his sister-in-law, Ruth Troxell of Fort Worth; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
