Greenwood: Willie Clyde Cole, 85, a veteran, went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in Decatur.

Funeral service is 1 p.m. Thursday, March 3rd at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Ross officiating. Interment: Greenwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Chris Fletcher, Bodie Cole, Wayne East, Jerry Myers, Jimmy Cole, and Daniel Grimes.

Willie was born February 11, 1926 in Martha, Oklahoma to Walter Samuel and Nettie Mae (Bledsoe) Cole. He married Jessie Mae Hardee on September 6, 1947 in Decatur, Texas. Willie served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and served on the U.S.S. Hopewell. He was a member of the Greenwood Church of Christ.

Left behind to cherish his memory is wife, Jessie Cole of Greenwood; two sons, Sammy and Clyde Cole, both of Greenwood; two sisters, Ruth Phillips of Corsicana, Edna Windsor of Florida; granddaughter, Courtney Fletcher and husband, Chris; grandson, Bodie Cole and wife, Shannon; great grandchildren, Mylee Fletcher and Cash Cole all of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.

Willie was preceded in death by brothers, Milliard, Bob and George Cole and sister, Lucille Grimes.
