BOYD-Willie V. Hatley, 83 went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, December 15 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral: 1:00 p.m., Thursday at the Trinity Baptist Church in Boyd. Burial: Boyd Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd. Officiating is Reverend Darryl Hatley and Reverend Thural Reid.
Pallbearers: Dwayne Moore, Kennith McCauley, Coy Tackett, Gordon Vess, Royce Vess and Ron Vess.
Willie was born February 23, 1926 to John R. and Lizzie Faye (North) Hately in Boyd, Texas.
Willie retired after 12 years of service as Water Superintendent with the City of Boyd. He was a member of the Disabled Ameican Veterans and proudly served his country in World War II as a sharpshooter and was held captive as a prisoner of war for over 9 months.
Willie is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Opal Hatley, daughters; Inez Hatley and Linda Seaton, son; Clifford Douglas Hatley, grandson; Billy Lyon, great granddaughters; Tammy and Tiffany Lyon and Katlyn Cole, brother; Dillard Hatley and sister; Mildred Vess.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his grandchildren; Cindy Lyon of Paradise, Mark Lyon and wife Lesa of Boyd, Shannon Ashford and husband Keith of Ft. Worth, Staci Mann of Boyd, Alinda Cole and husband Allen of Boyd, 16 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, sister; Faye Burchfield and husband Wayne of Boyd, brother; Darryl Hatley and wife Ann of Groesbeck and numerous nieces and nephews.
