CHICO -- Willie "Howard" Moss, 89, an oilfield construction contracter and a rancher went to be with our Lord on Sunday, December 21, 2008 in Bridgeport.
Funeral: 10:30 a,m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Chapel. Burial: Cumby Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Rev. Melvin Clay will officiate. Pallbearers: Craig Moss, Blake Moss, Will Cowling, Larry Mader, Jr., Audie Morris, and Charles Luther. Honorary Pallbearers: Sue Beard, Trudy Nicholson, Vera Norris, Angel Ritchey, Mattie McConnell, Frances Hallman, and Darlene Luther.
Howard was born on Oct. 24, 1919 in Montague County, the son of George Bradley and Myrtle (Barclay) Moss. He married Charlene Parmer on July 13, 1941 in Chico. He was a 50 year member and a past Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge #508.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Charlene, his daughter-in-law, Jennifer, his brother, George Moss, and his sisters, Cora Luther, Edna Reynolds, and Sarah Jane Moss.
"Little Willie" as some called him was a small man in size with a big heart, but stood tall in the eyes of many.
Left behind to cherish his memory is: sons, Mike Moss and wife Raye Nell of Chico, and Randy Moss of Chico; grandchildren, Craig Moss and wife Leanna, Teresa Mader and husband Larry Jr., Kate Cowling and husband Will, and Blake Moss; great grandchildren, Malori and Macie Moss, Mikena and Maley Mader; and sister, Faye Weatherford.
