PARADISE -- Willie "Bamps" Watkins, 78, of Paradise, an ROC employee, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008.
Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, First Baptist Church, Paradise. Burial: Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Rev. Robert Owensby will officiate, assisted by Matt Edwards. Pallbearers: Caleb Watkins, Chad Largent, Jacoby Gentry, Brody Gentry, Nick Richey, and Bubba Richey.
Willie was born on January 21, 1930, the son of Claude and Zora Lee (Bowen) Watkins in Walters, Oklahoma. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a Mason and a member of the First Baptist Church in Paradise.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce (Pittman) Watkins; brother, Doyle Watkins; daughter, Kim Watkins Hughes; three grandchildren, Cody Gentry, Afton Royse Hughes, and Shiloh Hughes.
Left behind to cherish his memory is: Son, Johnny Watkins of Amarillo; daughters, Carolyn Largent and husband, Clarence of Paradise, Binky Gentry and husband Wally of Paradise, Shirley Richey and husband Mike of Paradise; grandchildren: Keitha, Chad, Brittany, Caleb, Amber, Brody, Jacoby, Nick, Chrissi, and Bubba; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Nadine Rayburn of Weatherford; brother, Billy Watkins of Lake Bridgeport.
