Winford Hammonds

Decatur ~ Winford Hammonds, 76, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, June 15, 2022.

Winford was born March 8, 1946 to Piney Bell and Grace (Cawthon) Hammonds in Florala, Alabama. He was united in marriage July 31, 1965 to Linda Joyce Pierce in Ft. Worth, Texas. Winford retired from Victor Equipment in Denton after 38 years as a machinist and then after several more years with Poco Graphite. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Decatur. Winford was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Grace Luttrell; and his son, Chris Hammonds.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Linda Hammonds of Decatur; 2 daughters, Melissa Hammonds and Sheila Deming; 3 grandchildren, Rebekah Hammonds, Angela Wood, and Ashlie Liles; 6 great-grandchildren, Megan, Isabell, Annie, Nevaeh, Hunter, and Jace; his brother, Jimmy Luttrell and wife Myra of Decatur; his sister, Teresa Quested and husband Harley of Springtown; numerous extended family members and a host of friends.
