Decatur: Winfred Wayne "Wimp" Betty, 80, went to be with our Lord, Thursday, June 21, 2012 in Fort Worth.

Funeral is 10 a.m. Monday, June 25th at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Gogniat officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Wimp was born February 13, 1932 in Waurika, Oklahoma to Otis Earl and Lena (Kaiser) Betty. He was united in marriage with Joyce Nell Overton on March 24, 1962 in Fredrick, Oklahoma. Wimp was a machinist for Bell Helicopter and retired after 35 years of employment. He lived in Hurst for 35 years but moved to Decatur after retiring in 1998.

Wimp was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. He was a member of the Shady Oaks Baptist Church in Hurst.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce Betty of Decatur; 2 daughters, Katrina Modisett and husband Damon of Keller, Lisa Grantham and husband Roger of Whitney; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Lois Gillespie and husband Charles of Beaumont; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Wimp was preceded in death by his son, Cary Betty.
