Decatur ~ Colton Chase White, 20, went to be with our Lord March 29, 2022.
How do we paint a picture of Colton’s short life here with so few brush strokes?
Colton was born in Denton, Texas, on November 8, 2001 to Chris and Tressie White. Being the youngest of four boys, Colton built up a very sharp sense of wit and a thick skin of sarcasm. If a brave soul were to crack a joke with Colton around, they were sure to hear a quick comeback. Colton’s presence made for many laughs and many smiles. Beyond the sarcasm and the wit, Colton loved his friends and family deeply and fiercely without end. To know Colton was to know love and to know laughter.
Colton was kind-hearted, genuine and charismatic, and because of this, Colton shed light into the lives of many, many people. Since his childhood, Colton had an innate desire to help people. He would fill his servant’s heart by doing things such as volunteering to help with special needs baseball seasons or babysitting for single working moms, just to name a few. When Colton was looking into different professional career paths to take upon graduation of high school, each one was rooted in serving people: physical therapist, firefighter, and paramedic. In recent months, Colton was looking to return to college seeking a path in counseling to help others heal from their wounds. Colton had a well of compassion he drew from to help, love, and serve those in need.
Colton had many titles: son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, but above all, Child of God. Most recently, Colton had really delved into the Word of God. He would call his mom and chat about this verse or that verse. It was evident to his family that Colton was drawing closer to the Lord. Today, and forevermore, Colton is closer to the Lord than ever, and knowing this for certain helps the Colton shaped hole in our hearts feel not so big.
While we may not have painted Colton’s picture perfectly – God did. And now, today, he is picture perfect in the presence of God.
