Gary Lane Mcbride

Paradise ~ Gary Lane McBride, 84, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Eagle Drive Baptist Church in Decatur with burial at Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Gary was born June 9, 1937 to Roy Washington and Bertha (White) McBride in Decatur, Texas He was united in marriage June 1, 1957 to Wanda Jean Cook in Paradise, Texas. Gary was a retired teacher and principal more than 40 years in education both in Paradise and Decatur. Anyone who had the great pleasure of having Mr. McBride for their teacher was truly blessed. He loved to teach and he influenced hundreds of children throughout his 40 plus years. If you were really special, he gave you a nickname! He taught with passion and dedication. Gary also operated a dairy farm for over 40 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Paradise. Gary was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Bertha McBride; his beloved wife, Wanda McBride; sister, Joyce Stewart, and son-in-law, Danny Stokes.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Kerry McBride and wife Jena

of Paradise; his daughters, Shelly Stokes and husband David of Paradise, Susan Stokes of Decatur, and Stephanie Hensley and husband Chris of Justin; his grandchildren, Bradley McBride, Erick McBride, Cari Jo Mears, Nick Stokes, Kelsey Stokes, Kimberleigh Jenkins, Keith Stokes, Kyndrae Barboza, Parker Hensley, Cecily Hensley, Gunnar Hensley, and Emi Hensley; his great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Riley, Reese, Merritt, Kole, Easton, Kenedee,  Levi, and Marlee; his brother, Gordon McBride of Alba, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and a host of friends.
