Joyce Ann (Gilkerson) Upton

Decatur ~ Joyce Ann Upton, 70, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, January 26, 2021 in Keller, Texas

Funeral Service is 2:00 pm Saturday,  January 30, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Dr. David Lowrie will officiate.

Joyce was born August 26, 1950 to Ray and Florence (Pennington) Gilkerson in Fairfax, Virginia. She was united in marriage May 1, 1968 to James Roland Upton in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Joyce graduated with an associate’s degree in postal administration, retiring as Post Master after many years working for the government. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roland Upton, and her sister, Janice Southerland.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Jerry Upton and wife Anne of Paradise; her daughter, Tanya Upton Wilson and husband Rick of Decatur; 7 grandchildren, Lane, Cheyanne, Tara, Colton, Preston, Dalton, and Chase; 2 great-grandchildren, Christian and Emerson; 2 sisters, Nita Sue Brooks of Winchester, Virginia, and Brenda Ray Marks of Reed, Virginia; extended family and a host of friends.
