Michael R. “Mike” Molina, a giving soul and a long-time resident of Bridgeport, Texas, departed life on December 12, 2020, at the age of 77 in Fort Worth, Texas, due to natural causes. At his bedside, he was surrounded by family members and friends.
Mike is survived by his siblings of J. R. Molina of Burleson, Texas, Ernestina Servantez of Austin, Texas, Joyce Estrada of Burbank, California, Arnold Molina of Benbrook, Texas, and Gordon Molina of Elgin, Texas. He had many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Angelita and Arnulfo Molina of Round Rock, Texas, and siblings of Roy Molina, of Round Rock, Texas and Linda Lopez of Round Rock, Texas.
Mike was born in Galveston, Texas on April 1, 1943, to Arnulfo Molina and Angelita Rodriguez. Through his mother, Angelita, he was descended from the maternal line of the family Leal, who were the original Canary Island settlers in 1737 of San Antonio de Bexar, the earliest Spanish settlers of the southwest.
Mike attended Round Rock ISD public schools and graduated from Holy Cross Seminary, a High School on the University of Notre Dame campus, South Bend, Indiana. He attended Saint Edwards University in Austin and graduated from the University of Texas-Austin, B.A. and from Texas Women’s University, M.A.
In 1966, he was called to the nation’s duty in the U.S. Army and attended Syracuse University in New York State as part of his Army training. For his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Two O/S Bars, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device, and the Marksman Badge Rifle M14 before leaving the military service. After his military commitment, he was employed by the Fort Worth ISD schools as a teacher and counselor until retirement.
He was a devout and active member in the Catholic Church his entire life serving many volunteer positions in the church. He was a humble servant. He gave of himself to his church, his community, and to the family.
Due to COVID, a private family graveside was held to honor Mike. A memorial mass and luncheon will be held at a later date at St Stephens Catholic Church in Weatherford, Texas for the safety of family and friends. Condolences may be offered in the care of Tina Bertrand, 316 Marion Drive, Little Elm, Texas 75068, for the family.
