Steve was born April 11, 1958 to Bill Weldon and Ellen Rose (Browning) Howard in Dallas, Texas. He married Roberta "Robbie" Murphy on February 22, 1975 in Prairieville, Texas. Steve enjoyed wood working, football, and spending time with his family.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Robbie Howard of Decatur; son, Stephen Howard; daughter, Shanna Perkins; 3 grandsons, Mason Perkins, Mathu Perkins, and Diesel Howard; 2 granddaughters, Sydnie Howard and Mia Howard; 3 brothers, Austin Howard and wife Teresa of McKinney, David Howard of Payne Springs, and Danny Howard and wife Kim of Mabank; sister, Julie Mathis and husband Billy of Marshall; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Ellen Howard; his brother Mark Allen Howard; his sister, Debra Adams; mother-in-law, Inez Murphy; and a niece, Summer Howard.
