Verona Marie (Gage) Cobb

Verona Marie Cobb, 86, went to be with our Lord Thursday, November 10, 2022 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral Service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-7:30 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Dr. Michael Feese and Dr. James Singleton will officiate. Pallbearers include Coby Cobb, Traye Briggs, Carson Briggs, Blake Van Kleef, Dennis Cobb, and Frankie Claborn.

Verona was born March 7, 1936 to Bill and Faye (Boydston) Gage in Decatur, Texas. She was united in marriage June 18, 1953 to Travis Cobb in Decatur, Texas. Verona was a retired Veteran Clerk, after many years in the Veteran’s office in Decatur. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Faye Gage; her beloved husband Travis Cobb; a sister, Naomi Spain, and a brother, Jimmy Gage.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Randy Cobb and wife Beth of Justin; her daughter, Tamie Winters and husband Mike of Decatur; 4 grandchildren, Tiffani Winters, Kasi Van Kleef and husband Blake, Brittani Briggs and husband Traye, and Coby Cobb and wife Jennifer; 5 great-grandchildren, Carson Briggs, Addison Cobb, Kenzie Briggs, Beckham Van Kleef, and Ellisyn Van Kleef; 1 sister, Tonya Hale and husband Ronny; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
